The political forecasting site Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball has shifted the North Carolina governor’s race toward Democrats amid an unfolding controversy Thursday involving Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate.
The site shifted the North Carolina governor’s race between Robinson and Democrat Josh Stein, the state’s attorney general, from leans blue to likely blue after a bombshell CNN report that detailed offensive comments that Robinson allegedly made online.
North Carolina is also a battleground in the presidential race between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The swirling controversies around Robinson has raised questions about whether he could hurt the top of the GOP ticket in that state.
