  3. There are geographical limitations to new players in the market. There are only so many gates and good international airports. Carriers have already claimed all the best spots. I’m not sure how RyanAir could compete even if we let them.

    MattY says budget airline mergers are bad for competition, but they’ve really struggled to post a profit with rising fuel costs. Will the government bail out Spirit?
