Of note, the map is only interested in missing persons that occur around *national parks*, which explains why places like Detroit, Chicago, Houston, and Miami seem to not be represented in the data. Also of note, the data from the cave systems map has been overlayed onto the missing persons map.

I find it highly unlikely that the corner of South Dakota has more missing persons cases than Florida.
