I haven’t watched it, nor do I plan to, but I’ve seen a lot of people saying that it was so bad, like, really REALLY BAD, that the only explanation must be that it was intentional. The theory is that the filmmakers made it terrible on purpose to discourage people from identifying with Arthur Fleck and to stop the whole “we live in a society” mentality from gaining traction.

I’m not saying this makes sense, nor am I saying it doesn’t, I just want to see if anyone has a valid point regarding the possibility that this was actually the case.

    I think the director admitted this personally. I saw a quote about it on X. He wanted to fight “toxic masculinity” or something.
