“Japan’s figure of 30 per cent stands out against an average of 27 per cent among the other nations”. So 3% higher than the average of all countries polled. Not sure why Japan is highlighted besides it being SCMP. Also no link to said poll.

  2. This is the same country where women were artificially denied admission to medical schools despite more than achieving the marks to get in

    >About 30 per cent of Generation Z men in Japan believe that efforts to achieve equality in society and the workplace have gone too far, according to a new poll, sparking concerns among experts that the resulting frustration **could manifest in harmful ways.**

    >Chuo University’s Tsuji cautioned that marginalising young men – many of whom come from a lineage of fathers and grandfathers celebrated for rebuilding Japan after the war into an economic powerhouse – **could have dangerous implications.**

    >“The men who feel this way tend to be shy and not speak out against what they see as reverse discrimination, but some of them are angry,” he said. “Very few will actually do anything, of course, but for some **that anger can be dangerous and could potentially lead to violence.**”

Can’t help but notice how many times the article heavily implies that if men aren’t satisfied, don’t get their way, and/or feel left behind, they will get violent and hurt or kill people; not all of them, but enough of them that it’s considered a societal issue.

I don’t disagree, but can’t help but acknowledge that if a woman said this, then it would be labeled sexist/misandrist; I′ve seen it happen many times with far less egregious statements than these.
