  1. With all the talk about immigration on this sub, I think it is important to highlight the appeal of the US to immigrants in areas we often do not hear about.

    In Central Asia, for those who wish to leave home and make a better life for themselves, they often go to Russia. The choice is rational, Central Asians usually speak Russian, Russian and Central Asian culture are somewhat similar, and Central Asia used to be part of the Soviet Union.

    Despite not speaking English or being culturally American, the appeal of the United States is so powerful, that thousands of Central Asians risk everything they have to fly to Central America, travel to Mexico while risking their lives from bandits, and eventually try to cross into the United States to seek a better life.

    If this is not a Cultural Victory, I do not know what is.
